Join this international startup pitchfest today where ten South African startups participating in the venture leaders program pitch against ten Swiss startup who took part in the Startup Essentials Workhop and they will all pitch in front of an esteemed venture investor jury. Swiss South African venture leaders is a framework providing motivation, entrepreneurial know-how and support to South African and Swiss scientists while contributing to strengthen the cooperation between industries of South Africa and Switzerland.

It is a 5-day entrepreneur training program in Switzerland for young, ambitious South African and Swiss entrepreneurs, which is organized by venturelab. Sponsored by the Swiss South African Joint Research Program (SSAJRP) this business development program includes visits to start-up companies and workshop sessions on topics such as intellectual property, marketing and start-up financing. Last year the venture leaders from South Africa spent a tremendous week in Switzerland including a high-class pitchbattle at Google. During that week we talked to Karen Eksteen, who is manager in the Innovation Skills Development at the Technology Innovation Agency (a government agency equivalent to the Swiss CTI), about the startup scene in South Africa.
